Poiter-fans rejoice! Eric Bana is going back to his comedy roots and appearing in the next Judd Apatow film, Funny People.
Apatow announced earlier this year that his directorial follow up to Knocked Up would focus on the world of stand-up comedy.
Already slated to star is Apatow protege (and all-round awesome guy) Seth Rogen, and former roomate Adam Sandler.
Eric Bana also joins Jonah Hill, Jason Schwartzman and Leslie Mann (Judd’s wife, and the drunk-driver from The 40-Year-Old Virgin).
As if we didn’t have enough reasons to be excited for a new Judd Apatow movie; and than he goes and casts Australia’s favourite son (Sorry Hugh)!
God pless Judd Apatow. He has produced nearly all of the best comedies of the last five years, and his ‘upcoming projects’ list seems to be growing exponentially.
It’s hard to even think back to what the comedy landscape was like before the Apatow gang came along. From memory it was similar to the opening scene of Terminator 2: Judgement Day.
So, to get excited for Funny People (begins filming in September for a 2009 release), add some classics from the prolific producer/writer/director to your queue:
