George Miller no longer directing Justice League

UPDATE: According to; Miller is still attached to a Justice League film. So, never mind I guess.

I suppose it had to happen eventually. George Miller has confirmed he is no longer involved with the Justice League film, after a year filled with casting disputes and filming issues.

The Happy Feet director told Sunrise yesterday that he would not direct the seemingly cursed film.

Most of the cast had been lined up, with Adam Brody as The Flash, Megan Gale as Wonder Woman and Common as The Green Lantern.

If the project is ever brought back into development, Miller expects the major roles to be recast.

“The studios seem to want bigger stars in their superhero movies now,” he said.

What, bigger than Megan Gale and Adam Brody? What ridiculous expectations!

I have had no faith in this project since it was announced back in 2007. I do not want to see a Batman that isn’t played by Christian Bale or (to a lesser extent) a Superman that isn’t played by Brandon Routh. Especially while their own individual franchises are still plugging along.

Maybe after Bale and Routh hang up their capes, a JLA project can be developed in a suitably believable story. At this point, I cannot imagine Megan Gale as Wonder Woman inside the Nolanverse.

But don’t you worry about Miller. He’s going to be busy with Happy Feet 2, and is still valiantly trying to convince Mel Gibson to work on another Mad Max film.
