So there IS a God.
Warner Bros and Fox have reached a settlement regarding the rights over the upcoming Zach Snyder film Watchmen.
Although the details of the settlement will not be disclosed, Fox received a sizable cash payment as well as a percentage of the film’s box office. However, they will not co-distribute the film, despite a ruling last December that entitled them to do so. Fox will not own any piece of the ‘Watchmen’ property from now on.
Warner Bros and Fox will request the ongoing case be dismissed when they present their settlement to Judge Gary Feess on Friday morning.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, a Fox spokesman said no final deal had been reached, although that is a standard response considering Fox holds the upper hand in the situation.
The producer at the center of this case is Larry Gordon, who did not properly secure the rights for Watchmen from Fox before setting the project up at Warner Bros. Although he was not party to the case, Warner Bros is said to be seeking reimbursements for the costs of the settlement from Gordon himself.
That’s going to be very expensive. Bad news for MEG fans out there – that was Gordon’s next project.
But forget that! Watchmen is coming! No delays. Which means there are officially T-Minus 48 days until it hits cinemas! Let’s count it down! 48 days, 12 hours, 11 minutes, 33 seconds. 48 days, 12 hours, 11 minutes, 28 seconds. 48 days, 12 hours, 11 minutes, 24 seconds….
