Acclaimed international directors Michel Gondry, Bong Joon-Ho and Leos Carax have teamed up for a unique cinematic experience entitled Tokyo!
Each director has provided one short film about the city, and they have been combined into an omnibus feature.
Gondry, who is most famous for directing Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, provided the first film Interior Design. Famous Frenchman Leos Carax helmed the second segment, entitled Merde (!). South Korean director Bong Joon-Ho (who made the brilliant Memories of Murder and The Host) closes the film with Shaking Tokyo.
The project sounds kind of similar to Paris Je’taime and the upcoming New York, I Love You, in which famous directors unite to pay tribute to a city. However, the Paris project didn’t really work for me, and I have more faith in three short films rather than 12 very short films. What is a little strange is that there aren’t any Japanese directors involved! They couldn’t get Takeshi Kitano, Ryuhei Kitamura or even Takeshi Miike?! What’s up with that.
Enjoy the trailer!

The film does not yet have a release date in Australia. Make it so.
