God bless Pixar’s new Up trailer

Those clever monkeys down at Pixar have delivered a brand new trailer for their flick Up, and it’s shinier and prettier than real life itself.

The film follows the adventures of a 78-year-old man named Carl Fredrickson, who decides to embark on the adventure of a lifetime. Accidentally tagging along for the ride is boy-scout Russell, who finds himself trapped on Carl’s balloon-powered flying house.

Although I’ve loved everything I’ve seen from this movie, I’m getting a few mixed messages. The trailers imply that Up will be more child-friendly than Pixar’s last few movies. However, I have also heard that the film deals with themes such as old age and death, topics usually saved for adults. Well, if anyone can pull off both aspects in one film, it’s Pixar. They were robbed of a Best Picture nomination for WALL-E – here’s hoping they get one for Up.

Never thought I’d say this about a Pixar film, but I love Doug the Talking Dog! Up opens June 4th. It is directed by Pete Docter (Monsters Inc) and Bob Peterson (co-writer Finding Nemo).
