Oddball Oscar kings Joel and Ethan Coen are bringing an adaptation of the Charles Portis book True Grit to the big screen.
The book was previously adapted into the iconic 1969 western, which provided John Wayne with an Oscar for his lead performance.
The original novel is about a 14-year-old girl who enlists the help of a lawman and an ageing U.S. marshal to track her father in hostile terrain.
Whilst the original film placed the focus on Wayne’s marshall, the Coen Brothers will feature the young girl as the central character.
In the meantime, their upcoming film A Serious Man will debut at Cannes in May.
