Penn, Carrey and Del Toro to star as Three Stooges

MGM have revealed that the cast for The Farrelly Brother’s upcoming film The Three Stooges film will include Sean Penn, Jim Carrey and Benicio Del Toro.

Sean Penn has officially signed on to play Larry, while negotiations are still underway to lock in Carrey as Curly and Del Toro as Moe.

Carrey is already preparing to gain 40 pounds to portray “Curly” Howard in the picture, which has been in development hell for the past decade.

The picture has been written by the Farrelly’s and will not be a biopic of the famous trio, but instead a comedy based around their legendary comic characters.

The film is slated to start production later in the year, with a release date set in 2010.

QUESTION: What do you think of these casting decisions? I personally think Penn would MURDER in a comedy, and Carrey is obviously a great physical comedian. But, do the Farrelly Brothers have another good film in them?
