The trailer for Ang Lee‘s upcoming feature Taking Woodstock debuted on Comedy Central’s Important Things with Demetri Martin last night.
The film is based on the real life story of Elliot Tiber, a closeted gay man who supplied his parents’ music festival permit to the organisers of Woodstock. Martin will star as Tiber in the film, which will most likely debut at Cannes in May.
Although I’m a big fan of Demetri Martin, I was surprised when it was announced he would headline the new Ang Lee film. I mean, the next Judd Apatow flick, sure. But Ang Lee? The guy that made Lust, Caution?
Well, from the looks of the trailer, Martin seems perfect for the role. Really digging the Almost Famous/Wayne’s World 2 vibe as well.
The film has a pending Australian release date of August 13. It also stars Liev Schrieber, Imelda Staunton, Eugene Levy, Emile Hirsch and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
