Daniel Radcliffe drops out of final Harry Potter!?

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has announced he will not reprise the role of the titular wizard in the final two installments of the beloved franchise.

Radcliffe released a statement this morning stating his inability to appear in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 and 2, claiming personal problems to be the reason.

“Portraying Harry Potter has been one of the most amazing experiences in my life; one which I doubt could ever be topped,” he said.

“However, certain events have transpired in my personal life that mean I cannot possibly return to film the final two pictures. Warner Brothers have been completely understanding of my situation, and have released me from my contract. The films, the cast, the crew and even the character will remain a part of me for the rest of my life. I’d like to apologise to all of my fans.”

Director David Yates has reportedly been auditioning actors for the lead role in secret. The lead contender at the moment is rumoured to be The Pursuit of Happyness star Jaden Smith.

Yates mentioned in an interview with EW earlier this year his appreciation of Smith’s work.

“Jaden is such a talent, you know. I just loved what he did with The Day the Earth Stood Still. He’s only 9, but … wow. You know when you can tell that someone is going to win an Oscar one day. Jaden is going to win an Oscar,” he said.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is to be broken up into two separate films, although it is unknown whether or not these plans will change in the coming weeks following Radcliffe’s withdrawal.
