Man on Wire walks again!

Legendary French tightrope-walker Philippe Petit (subject of Oscar-winning documentary Man on Wire) is planning a series of high-wire walks in the U.S.

The 59-year-old is set to walk amongst the clouds in midtown Manhattan as well as several other undisclosed locations to promote literacy. Umm, OK.

We’re big fans of Man on Wire here at Quickflix. Philippe Petit might be the most interesting non-fictional movie character in a long time (and he’s certainly the ballsiest). James Marsh‘s 2008 film picked up Best Documentary Feature at this year’s Oscar ceremony. The film features a reenactment of Petit’s attempts to walk between the World Trade Centre towers in 1974 … without a net.

Consider us on Petit-Watch until more details are uncovered.

P.S – This is a great opportunity to sanction an official Petit chant! (To the tune of Kings of Leon’s Sex on Fire: “Whoa, whoa! This Man is on Wire!”)
