We want our Brothers Bloom!

source: traileraddict.com

It feels like we’ve been waiting for Rian Johnson‘s The Brothers Bloom for the past three years (or more accurately, nine months). We originally reported on the film back in September, and have spent most of 2009 eagerly awaiting an Australian release.

Mark Ruffalo and Adrian Brody star as Stephen and Bloom, the world’s greatest con men. Along with their sidekick Bang-Bank (Rinko Kikuchi), the brothers have made a living off of complex swindles. They decide to reunite for one last job; the target being beautiful, eccentric heiress Penelope (Rachel Weisz). Obviously, things do not go exactly to plan.

Today we bring you a clip from the film in which Penelope explains to Bloom the reasons why she became a shut-in, all the while performing a nifty little card-trick.

Rian Johnson directed 2006’s Brick, a modern day film-noir which focused on a group of high-schoolers. It was one of the best films of the year, and certainly one of the most impressive feature film debuts I’d seen in a long time.

We fell in love with the trailer for The Brothers Bloom, and we get the feeling that many of you will too. Check it out here if you want to see Rachel Weisz skateboarding and breakdancing.

The Brothers Bloom hits U.S. cinemas next week. Australian audiences can anticipate a release sometime this August. In the meantime, make sure you check out Brick, and bone-up on your shuffling skills.
