Does Paul have the comedy cast of the year?

Seth Rogen, Jason Bateman, Kristen Wiig, Bill Hader and Jane Lynch will join Simon Pegg and Nick Frost in the upcoming sci-fi comedy Paul.

The film stars Pegg and Frost (who also wrote the screenplay) as a pair of sci-fi geeks who encounter a genuine alien on the way to Area 51. Rogen will voice the computer generated alien, aptly named Paul. It will be directed by Superbad and Adventureland helmer Greg Motolla.

Of course, everyone knows Pegg and Frost from Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, and Rogen is probably the biggest comedy star on the planet. As for the rest of them, you may not recognise the names … but you really should.

Bateman played Michael Bluth in the beloved television show Arrested Development (but if you don’t know that … come on). Wiig and Hader are from Saturday Night Live, and may be the two funniest humans in the world. Wiig played the cruel E! news executive in Knocked Up, while Hader played Officer Slater in Superbad. They both star in Motolla’s upcoming Adventureland.

And Jane Lynch has been in everything under the sun, but most memorably as Andy’s creepy boss in The 40-Year-Old Virgin.

Not really much information out there about Paul as of yet, but with this kind of pedigree, how can it miss. Paul hits cinemas in 2010.

Discuss: Pegg, Frost, Rogen, Bateman, Wiig, Hader, Lynch, Mottolla. MVP?
