Television satire 30 Rock and slow-burn period drama Mad Men have dominated the 2009 Emmy Nominations. 30 Rock nabbed 22 nominations, a record for a comedy show. Mad Men scored a hefty 16 nods.Other notable nominees include Aussies Toni Collette, Simon Baker and Rose Byrne who were each honoured for their acting prowess.
In sadder news, Family Guy became the first animated television show to receive an Outstanding Comedy Program nomination since The Flintstones in 1961. This is bad of course, because Family Guy is such a terrible, unfunny show. If the members of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences deem the show a worthier victor than any of the other six nominees, I guarantee the fabric of existence will simply collapse.
Take a look at the nominees and let us know your thoughts below!

Discuss: Where the hell is Battlestar Galactica??? Sigh. OK, so I’m giving my love to the four (other) best shows on television: Lost, Mad Men, 30 Rock and The Office. After that, it would be great to see some prizes go to HIMYM, Flight of the Conchords, Saturday Night Live and Dexter. Who would you like to see take home some awards from this glorified popularity competition?
