TRON Legacy trailer coming at you from right angles!

COMIC CON! It’s a Comic Con update blitz today as we report on the biggest stories to come out of San Diego’s legendary geek-gasmic festival.

Walt Disney have finally debuted the teaser trailer for TRON Legacy, the surprise sequel to the original 1980’s cult classic.

The teaser originally screened at Comic Con 2008 to a crowd of people who had no idea that a sequel to TRON was even in development.

Director Joseph Kosinski originally shot (or I suppose rendered) the footage to sample his vision for the project. Disney were so impressed with the clip, they screened it for the masses last year. Now, at Comic Con 2009, the trailer has been made available online to us lowly peons.

Take a look at the clip and let us know what you think!

I won’t lie – I haven’t actually seen the original TRON, so I’m not the best person to comment on the potential of a sequel. However, from the looks of the above trailer, TRON Legacy could be a lot of fun.

It looks very sleek, very clean, and very computer-generated (although I think that’s half the point). In 3-D, this could be a great throwback to those amusement-park video displays. You know the ones, where you get in an abandoned car and they tell you it’s a spaceship as they shake it around and show you a video of the stars. Except more fun.

TRON Legacy stars Garrett Hedlund, Jeff Bridges and Olivia Wilde. Hedlund plays Sam Flynn, the sun of Kevin (Bridges) who disappeared into the world of TRON 25 years ago. Sam gets sucked into the game, and the two must embark on a life-or-death journey across the cyber universe.

Discuss: TRON Legacy. Good idea?
