Twilight fans out-geek the geeks at Comic Con

COMIC CON! It’s a Comic Con update blitz today as we report on the biggest stories to come out of San Diego’s legendary geek-gasmic festival.

Twilight mania struck Comic Con over the weekend, as devoted fans waited in line a full 24 HOURS for the New Moon panel. 24 HOURS! Do you know how many times they could have watched Twilight again during that time?

The panel for the heavily-anticipated (to some) sequel featured stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, Ashley Greene and director Chris Weitz. They talked about stuff like motorcycles and filming in Rome but ultimately nothing worth reporting.

Oh except maybe this: Apparently Edward Cullen (Pattinson) isn’t actually in the book New Moon very much at all. So, to keep fans happy, he will appear to Bella Swan (Stewart) as a hallucination in the film. Makes sense. She is certifiably insane.

The real story here is the fans. Slashfilm have some interesting interviews with Twilight obsessive’s who have driven from all over America just to look at Robert Pattinson’s hair in person (I assume).

I’ve been quite cruel to Twilight fans in the past, so I’m going to turn over a new leaf and at least try to treat them with some respect. So if they’re happy, I’m happy.

Of course, I still think the movie and books are terrible, terrible blights on the history of art and culture.

Discuss: What would you wait in line 24 hours for? I don’t mean “Star Wars Episode 1” because that baby has come and gone. I mean, hypothetically, what would you devote a day of waiting too?
