The highly anticipated Australian musical Bran Nue Dae has been selected to close the Melbourne International Film Festival on Saturday the 8th of August.
Bran Nue Dae is based on the musical of the same name written by Jimmy Chi and his band Kuckles. When it debuted in the early 1990’s, it was designated the very first Aboriginal musical.
The motion picture adaptation was filmed in the outback of Western Australia earlier this year and features a talented cast including Geoffrey Rush, Missy Higgins, Jessica Mauboy and Ernie Dingo.
We know that we’re kind of slow on the uptake here, but we finally caught a glimpse of the trailer over at the film’s official website, and felt we had to share it.

I really dig the look developed by director Rachel Perkins, and I cannot wait to see this when it hits cinemas.
If you are a lucky Melbournian, you can see it close the Melbourne International Film Festival on Saturday night. Buy tickets here!
Discuss: What Australian films have you loved this year? I’m ashamed to say I still haven’t seen Samson and Delilah. Don’t hate me!!!
