The Coen Brothers return with A Serious Man

The trailer for The Coen Brothers latest feature, A Serious Man, has debuted online.

A Serious Man tells the story of Jewish academic Larry Gopnik, a conflicted man looking to find clarity in 1960’s America.

This is one of the more interesting trailers I’ve seen of late, and it certainly capitalises on the Coens impressive back catalogue of films. I thought this would be a hard film to sell based on the plot synopsis, but I think this trailer will definitely pique a lot of people’s interest. The past few years have been a particularly prolific period for the oddball Joel and Ethan Coen. It’s nice to see that they have not once rested on their laurels, and continue to produce interesting films. Well, at least I hope A Serious Man continues that trend.

A Serious Man stars Michael Stuhlbarg and Richard Kind. It opens October 2nd in the U.S. and November 19th in Australia.

Discuss: Favourite Coen Brothers movie? My heart belongs to The Big Lebowski.
