Peter Jackson has premiered the trailer for his long-awaited adaptation of Alice Sebold’s novel The Lovely Bones on Apple.
The Lovely Bones stars Saoirse Ronan as Susie Salmon, a 14-year-old girl who is raped and murdered by her next-door neighbour (Stanley Tucci). Caught between heaven and Earth, Susie watches over her father (Mark Wahlberg), mother (Rachel Weisz) and grandmother (Susan Sarandon). However, when her killer sets his eyes on his next victim, Susie may have to find away to step in and save the day.
The film has had a pretty tumultuous development history, and you can check out our full report here.
Thankfully, recasting drama and creative differences won’t mean a thing when we finally get the final cut in our hot little hands.
That’s pretty beautiful. I’m a big fan of Sebold’s novel, and I can’t wait to see Jackson’s full vision on the big screen.
The Lovely Bones hits cinemas December 26, 2009.
