Tarantino’s 20 favourite films!

Quentin Tarantino has compiled a list of his 20 favourite films of the past 17 years. He has selected films exclusively made between 1992 and 2009.

Tarantino has picked the year 1992 as the boundary as it was the year his first feature film Reservoir Dogs hit cinemas. Therefore, the list acts as a catalogue of films that have inspired the auteur during his filmmaking years.

The director identified Battle Royale as his favourite film of the past twenty years. The remainder of the films were ranked equally:

It’s great to see such an acclaimed director talk openly about cinema. It’s also nice to see that he appreciates the same films as yourself. I’m a big fan of the Korean films Memories of Murder, The Host and Joint Security Area, as well as the Japanese masterpiece Battle Royale. And hey, who doesn’t love Boogie Nights? Sucky people, that’s who.

Ironically, the list feels incomplete. Why? Well, where the hell is Pulp Fiction?!

As if you all weren’t wetting yourselves in excitement and didn’t know, Inglourious Basterds hits cinemas this Thursday.

Discuss: So, what did you think of the list? And what are your favourite films of the last 17 years?
