Columbia Pictures has hired a screenwriter to pen a third installment in the Will Smith/Martin Lawrence action franchise Bad Boys.
The studio hopes to re-team Smith and Lawrence with director Michael Bay and producer Jerry Bruckheimer.
None of the major players have signed a deal to return for a third film, although they have all previously mentioned their willingness to return to the series.
The lucky screenwriter (depending on how you look at it) is Peter Craig. He also penned the upcoming Ben Affleck-directed thriller The Town and has adapted the anime Cowboy Bebop.
Even if the Big Four approve of Craig’s script, it is unknown whether or not their schedules will be free. Bay is currently in pre-production on the film I Am Number Four, which he will almost certainly follow up with a third Transformers film. Smith meanwhile will be focusing on his Hancock sequel for the next couple of years. As for Lawrence, well, he’s got Wild Hogs 2 coming up. You gotta get paid in this business.
Discuss: Bad Boys 3 – do you want it? I am a bit of an unabashed fan of the first two, so I’m all for it. Even though Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was terrible.
BadBoys 1-2 is the best.. I think this one is a must have dvd movie i wonder when will they release this video.. im so excited..
