Patrick Swayze has passed away

Patrick Swayze, the star of hit films Dirty Dancing, Ghost and Point Break, has passed away at the age of 57.

The eighties heartthrob had been battling pancreatic cancer since early 2008.

Swayze made a name for himself as one of the biggest stars of the 1980s, starring in the hit films Red Dawn and Road House. However, it was in the iconic films Dirty Dancing and Ghost that Swayze cemented his superstar status.

His career waned in the late 1990s, only to be resurrected again briefly in 2001 thanks to a supporting role in the cult classic Donnie Darko.

He is survived by his wife Lisa.

  1. I definitely believe Patrick Swayze was an underrated actor. He had an honesty and passion in his performances that made the characters he played all the more believable and great to watch. I love Ghost, and don't know anyone who doesn't like Dirty Dancing, but would also recommend people see King Solomon's Mines (Available from QuickFlix) for an entertaining and likeable portrayal of Alan Quatermain by Patrick Swazye. Even for a TV Mini series, he delivers a great performance. He will be missed!
