Come fly with Clooney – Up In The Air feature trailer debut!

The feature length trailer for Jason Reitman‘s new film Up in the Air has debuted online. Last month we fell in love with the unique teaser trailer, but this new clip gives us a better idea of the film’s storyline.

Up in the Air is based on the novel by Walter Kirn and stars George Clooney as a travelling corporate downsizing counselor whose one joy exists in his collection of frequent flyer miles.

Check out the trailer and let us know your thoughts.

Having read the book earlier this year, it’s interesting to see just how different a direction the film seems to be heading in. While the tone of it feels aligned with Kirn’s novel, there are a whole bunch of elements here that I am unfamiliar with. However, it’s great to see Jason Bateman as Clooney’s smarmy boss Craig Gregory.

Despite the changes, I have great faith in Reitman, who previously directed the excellent Thank You For Smoking and Juno. The picture received rave reviews from the Toronto International Film Festival and is likely to be a major Oscar contender next year.

Up in the Air also stars Anna Kendrick and Vera Farmiga. It hits Australian cinemas January 21, 2010.

Discuss: How do you feel about book-to-film adaptations that tamper with the source material? Is artistic license OK or is any tampering sacrilegious?

  1. Best script ever. Best movie of its kind for a very long time.
