Go crazy for The Crazies!

source: traileraddict.com

Well it’s a new week, and you know what that means: the trailer for another horror movie remake has debuted online! This week, Breck Eisner has a stab at George A. Romero‘s cult classic The Crazies.

Timothy Olyphant stars as the sheriff of a small town suddenly plagued by madness and murder after a mysterious toxin contaminates the water supply.

It’s an impressively cut trailer, although that is hardly an indicator of a quality horror film these days. There is a kind of Happening-vibe (bad) clashing with a 28 Weeks Later-vibe (good), but ultimately it’s got me excited.

Check it out and let us know what you think!

Can we please have a moratorium on films using Gary Jules’ version of ‘Mad World’. Seriously. I think we’ve heard enough of this over the past decade. I mean, I get it. Mad = Crazy. But couldn’t they pick something with a little more zing in it. Imagine how good this trailer would have been if they had used Prince‘s song ‘Let’s Go Crazy’ from the Purple Rain soundtrack?

Here’s hoping this is the project that gets Timothy Olyphant some proper exposure. I know people give him a hard time, but as a Deadwood fan, I want to see him become a star. Besides, it wasn’t his fault that his villain in Die Hard 4.0 was terrrible. Well, it was, but everyone deserves a second chance.

The Crazies also stars Radha Mitchell and will hit U.S. cinemas February 26, 2010. An Australian release will follow sometime next year.

Discuss: What are you looking forward to more – the Nightmare on Elm Street remake or this one?
