Don’t lie to us Hollywood Reporter! We’ve been hurt too many times before.
Arrested Development creator Mitch Hurwitz and co-executive producer James Vallely are officially working on the screenplay for the long-gestating feature film of the classic cult television show.
Hurwitz previously announced that he would not start working on a script until the show’s entire cast had signed on for the movie. They included Jason Bateman, Michael Cera, Will Arnett, Jeffrey Tambor, Tony Hale, Alia Shawkat, Jessica Walter, Portia DeRossi and David Cross. Cera was apparently the only holdout, but if Hurwitz is writing the script, we can only assume that he is finally on board.
Ron Howard, who both narrated the series and acted as executive producer, will once again produce the feature film. Hurwitz will direct.
If you are unfamiliar with the show and would like to know what it is about – tough. I refuse to explain it to you. Instead, I suggest you add every season of this perfect show to your Queues and find out for yourself, lest I mock you mercilessly.
Fun Fact: News of an Arrested Development movie was the second article I ever wrote for Quickflix. The date? February 6th, 2008.
Discuss: OK, it’s finally within our grasp. But do you still want an Arrested Development movie?
I will always want an Arrested Development movie, but I'm pretty sure I won't really believe it until the moment when I am literally sitting in the the theatre for it, or else the crushing heartache will just be too much. XD
