New Moon was so last month. Summit Entertainment have released the first official still from The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.
Brad Brevet at Rope of Silicon poses a good question: how can Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) sit in the sunlight with Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) and not go all sparkly? This is really weird. It’s almost like seeing a picture of Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner) with his shirt on. I’m sure those who have subjected themselves to the book will be able to fill us in.
As anyone who has visited this blog before already knows, my relationship with the Twilight franchise is strained to say the least. However, I did note an improvement in New Moon, the 2nd film of the series, giving it a 2.5/5 star review – the equivalent of a rave compared to my review of the first film.
However, it’s hard not to look forward to Eclipse. Fans of Stephanie Meyer’s books tell me this is the installment with all the action, and I trust them. Also, the directorial reigns have been handed to David Slade, the man behind the brilliant Hard Candy. That was a film about an older man romancing a MUCH younger woman, culminating in some terrifying sexual torture. Therefore, he is a perfect fit for the Twilight series. Oh and he also directed a vampire film.
It is still unknown whether or not Breaking Dawn, the fourth and final book of the series, will be turned into a movie.
The Twilight Saga: Eclipse hits American cinemas June 30, 2010. It will likely open in Australia soon after.
