Each year we take great delight in evaluating the various For Your Consideration Oscar ads released by studios. They often range from the deserving to the absolutely incredulous. This one falls into the latter category.
Disney are pushing Betty White for a Best Supporting Actress nomination for her role in The Proposal.
The Sandra Bullock/Ryan Reynolds rom-com grossed an impressive $US314 million worldwide. White received some mild critical praise for her role as a plucky family matriarch. Disney’s hope that the Academy will choose to recognise the 87-year-old actress is not ridiculous under these circumstances.
That being said, I hardly think the Academy will squeeze White into a category alongside locks such as Mo’nique in Precious or even Vera Farmiga and Anna Kendrick in Up in the Air.
She has a better shot at the People’s Choice Awards.
Discuss: Betty White in The Proposal. More deserving of an Oscar than past winners Daniel Day-Lewis or Kate Winslet?
BETTY IS AWESOME! GO U!!
Go Betty go!
Did they give her Emmys or Golden Globes for her work in Boston Legal? She owned that show…
