The nominees for the 82nd Academy Awards will be announced in Los Angeles next Tuesday at 5:30AM (Tuesday night in Australia) by a very tired Anne Hathaway. No doubt there will be the requisite number of surprises and overwhelming disappointments that come with every Oscar nomination announcement. (Seriously, The Reader for Best Picture!)
I considered posting my predictions just like last year, but I found myself begrudgingly placing Avatar and Precious in the Best Picture category, despite not thinking either deserved such a nomination.
Seeing as any predictions are pretty much irrelevant (actually, pretty much anything to do with the Oscars are irrelevant), I thought I would instead post my nomination wishlist. The below categories include the films, filmmakers and actors that I would LIKE to see receive an Oscar nod, regardless of their likelihood of getting the Academy’s attention. I’ve also included the picks that I would like to see win.
Let us know in the comments section below what YOU would like to see get a nod next Tuesday, ignoring all the publicists buzz and For Your Consideration ads. Let loose! Go on! Which of you thinks Nic Cage deserves a Best Actor nom for Knowing?
If I wish upon a star….

Discuss: So, what films would you give your hypothetical Oscars to?
Man, I want YOUR Oscars! Lotsa noms for SERIOUS, BASTERDS, WILD THINGS, UP IN THE AIR & ANTICHRIST? I wish I wish I wish…Only caveats: I'd sub out (500) DAYS for AWAY WE GO in Best Pic & Adapted Script, and THE COVE would be best doc.
District 9, Moon and An Education for Best Pic. Carey Mulligan for Best Actress. No Best Pic for Avatar. And nothing for The Hangover.
yours is soooo much better and i agree with almost all chiuces except i'd give best supporting actress to zoe saldana and best animated feature to fantastic mr fox.
oh – the cove for best doc!
