Toy Story 3 – a new trailer full of new toys (and one surprise guest!)

Yesterday we featured a short, 30-second preview of the latest trailer for Toy Story 3. Disney have now released the full-length trailer and it is spectacular.

Seriously, what else do we need to say. It’s the NEW TRAILER FOR TOY STORY 3! It’s hilarious, it’s sad, it’s beautiful to behold. Just watch it already!

“Nice ascot.”

By the way, did you notice Totoro, the legendary character from Hayao Miyazaki‘s My Neighbour Totoro in the background? Look, there he is, on the left!

Awwww. Pixar has assisted in the English language redubs of the past few Studio Ghibli films, and Miyazaki is close friends with Pixar founder John Lasseter, hence the cameo.

Could we be any more excited?

I’m always impressed by the works of Pixar. Their films (particularly the Toy Story franchise) are ripe for cynical, vapid product placement. They could churn out a heartless 90 minute toy ad and still gross half a billion dollars. I mean, let’s face it: the Toy Story movies are feature-length toy ads. But the team at Pixar (this time led by director Lee Unkrich) continually pump their films with more heart and soul than any other studio in the world. Their films are more genuine than the most earnest of indie flicks.

But of course, I should probably save my hyperbole until the film comes out June 24th, 2010.

Toy Story 3 features the voices of Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack and the rest of the gang from the previous films. Michael Keaton, Timothy Dalton and Kristen Schaal (Flight of the Conchords) will voice new characters.

Check out the first trailer for Toy Story 3 here.

Discuss: My excitement for this film is obscene. How about yours?
