Want to fall asleep instantly? Watch Paranormal Activity at an outdoor theatre. I couldn’t stop yawning. The only good thing was the awesome bean bag I could lie down on. Talk about a budget movie! It really showed. I couldn’t take it. Seriously, worse than The Blair Witch Project!
You’re a woman of few words Caroline, and I can appreciate that. But you are WAY off on Paranormal Activity. Yes, its teeny tiny budget showed. But that’s half the point! Oren Peli displays the talents of a true filmmaker, utilising old-school techniques and relying on the audience’s imagination to create a truly terrifying experience. Think of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, made on a budget somewhere around the hundred gazillion dollar mark. And what good was it? No, the budget has nothing to do with anything. I’m sorry that you didn’t find Paranormal Activity too gripping, but I will always remember it as one of my all-time favourite theatre-going experiences. (Although I agree, those outdoor beanbags are nice.)
I totally agree! What a BORING film. I would rather be haunted than watch this again. Rubbish.
Simon I haven't seen P.A but I have laughed at every opportunity you've had to bag Transformers: ROTF in other reviews & blogs. Keep up the good work – tell it like it is.
I didn't mind this movie too much, but it certainly didn't live up to the hype of "scariest movie ever made". I would have given it around a 3 though. It just needed a bit more action and scenes where the girl wasn't whining about being filmed and the guy wasn't being stupid!
It's pretty much impossible for the movie to live up for to the expectations set by the trailer. I think they must of round up everyone they could find that had never seen a horror movie before to get such a reaction. That said they did a great job with the money they had, one of the better ghost movies I've seen. 4/5
This film had its scary moments, and i get that it was building on the suspense that it was gradually getting worse and the last 5 minutes still send shivers through my body but all that said when ive had to explain how the movie was, i describe it as an 1 1/2 hr Youtube scare clip!!!
Loved it! Saw it twice and want to own it. The lack of action added to the eerie, creepiness. Action would have ruined the feeling that it was a true story. The only thing that bugged me was that the girl didn't smack her stupid boyfriend up the side of the head and tell him to stop goading the ghost!!! (of course that would have ruined the whole movie).
