MacGruber, the latest comedy inspired by the (occasionally brilliant) stable of Saturday Night Live characters, is heading to cinemas in just a few months. We haven’t been too impressed by what we’ve seen so far, but this new Red Band trailer (complete with gore and tasteless sex jokes) seems right up our alley.
Will Forte stars as MacGruber, a special ops agent not unlike a certain famous television character once played by Richard Dean Anderson. The film is based on the Saturday Night Live recurring sketch that, frankly, didn’t seem like it held much potential for a feature film.
The film killed at SXSW and currently holds a promising 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes. We’re certain that perfect rating won’t hold, but if reports are true that MacGruber is the funniest SNL film since Wayne’s World, consider us excited.

MacGruber, directed by Jorma Taccone, stars the hilarious Will Forte and Kristen Wiig. It hits American cinemas May 21, with an Australian release to follow shortly (hopefully).
