Kristen Stewart is reportedly being courted by director Timur Bekmambetov to star as the female lead in his sequel to the 2008 box office hit Wanted.
The news comes from E!Online, whose sources claim that Stewart has met with Bekmambetov at least once.
Stewart would likely star alongside James McAvoy as “a young, ass-kicking assassin”, filling the void left by Angelina Jolie (who – spoiler alert – died at the end of the first film).
There were rumours that Jolie would return for the Wanted sequel (lord knows how), but she recently declined revisiting the role.
Of course, at this point in time, this story still exists in the realm of the rumour. It is likely that Stewart would be filming the two-part finale of The Twilight Saga (Breaking Dawn) during Wanted 2’s production.
Besides, is Wanted 2 still even happening? This is the first we’ve heard about it in a while.
More news as it develops.
Discuss: Is Stewart really an adequate replacement for Jolie? Isn’t this the equivalent of casting Jesse Eisenberg in a role that formerly belonged to Jason Statham?
