Piranha 3D teaser trailer debut

The teaser trailer for Piranha 3D has debuted online, and it looks as wonderfully stupid as you would expect it to.

I don’t really know what you want me to say here. It is a movie about Piranhas. In 3D. Do you really care about the people who willingly made this flick?

The thing is, you should care. There seems to be an awful lot of talented folk involved in this project, which gives us a little more faith in the film than it perhaps deserves.

Firstly, you have talented French director Alexandra Aja helming the project. His American films have been underwhelming (Mirrors, The Hills Have Eyes), but his signature film – High Tension – is expertly made (despite a silly twist ending).

Two of the screenwriters have cut their teeth on the Saw and Feast franchises, while the third – Chuck Russell – is best known for writing and directing The Mask. Not phenomenally impressive, but intriguing, no?

Finally, take a look at this cast: Adam Scott, Elisabeth Shue, Ving Rhames, Richard Dreyfuss, Christopher Lloyd, Eli Roth, Jerry O’Connell, Paul Scheer, and a bunch of pretty young people. Again, not a whole bunch of Oscar winners, but this is a fun cast.

Anyway, hopefully your expectations have been at least slightly raised. Now, enjoy (courtesy of Trailer Addict):

  1. James Cameron directed the last cinema masterpiece, Piranha Part Two: The Spawning. lol

  2. May be this will be like Drag Me To Hell, inadvertently funny.

  3. Uhhhh, DRAG ME TO HELL is INTENTIONALLY funny. That movie is most definitely a comedy – much like I think Piranha 3D will be.
