J.J. Abrams has ANOTHER secret movie?!

That wacky J.J. Abrams sure does like to keep a secret! Rumour has it that the man behind Lost and Cloverfield has another mysterious project in the works. Not only that, but a teaser trailer is expected to debut this week.

Of course, we all remember being completely bamboozled by that (now legendary) teaser of the then-untitled Cloverfield in 2007. Producer Abrams and director Matt Reeves kept that $US25 million project completely under wraps, eventually unveiling it to solid critical acclaim and massive box office.

The scoop comes from Hitfix, who claim this new secret project is called SUPER 8 and will somehow be connected to Cloverfield. It is unknown if Abrams is directing, or simply producing under his Bad Robot banner.

Vulture have the (supposed) contents of the trailer, so… potential spoiler alert!

“it shows a bunch of kids who are shooting a movie with a Super 8 camera in the seventies or eighties. When they develop the film, they notice that there’s an alien creature in the frame.”

Slashfilm suggest that this project might be connected to the film Abrams is set to direct later this year, which will be a “tip of the hat” to the Spielberg movies of the late 1970s/early 1980s. However, they also propose that Super 8 might in fact be the same previously reported secret project from Abrams known as 500 Rads.

As you can already see, even after this trailer lands, we are going to hear a lot of speculation about this new flick.

The teaser for Super 8 will debut ahead of Iron Man 2 in U.S. cinemas this Friday, and will likely make its way online moments later.
