Charlie Kaufman worked on Kung Fu Panda 2 script – fact.

Here’s a fun story. Heat Vision blog revealed last week that Charlie Kaufman – the Oscar-winning screenwriter behind Being John Malkovich, Adaptation, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Synecdoche, New York – had done a polish on the screenplay for … Kung Fu Panda 2: The Kaboom of Doom.

Now, as the article reminds us, it is not unusual for screenwriters to do a couple of weeks work on other people’s screenplays – particularly those for animated films. Comedian Patton Oswalt hilariously recalled this very task on his album Werewolves and Lollipops. Joss Whedon – the king of the polish – has also worked on numerous screenplays, even scoring a credit on the Toy Story script.

Kaufman only spent two weeks on the sequel to the hit 2008 DreamWorks flick Kung Fu Panda. Regardless, it is hard not to be intrigued about what touches he left on the final screenplay. Will Po the Panda (Jack Black) find himself crippled by self-doubt and embark on an impossible artistic quest to redefine his own life? Will The Furious Five take up residence in a burning house? And which character’s mind will be used as a vessel for eternal life?

All these questions (and more) will be answered when Kung Fu Panda 2: The Kaboom of Doom hits cinemas in 2011.

Discuss: At what point in the film will Po take on the identity of his cleaning lady?
