Never Let Me Go trailer debut

The feature trailer for Mark Romanek‘s adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro acclaimed novel Never Let Me Go has debuted online.

The film stars Carey Mulligan, Keira Knightley and Andrew Garfield as three friends who reunite to reflect on their time at a mysterious private school, and uncover the secrets of their past.

Ishiguro’s novel was named by TIME magazine as the best of 2005, and also featured on their list of 100 Best English-language Novels from 1923 to 2005. The book has been adapted for the screen by Alex Garland (Sunshine, 28 Days Later).

It’s a heavy trailer, that’s for sure. The combined talents of the brilliant Mulligan, Knightley and Garfield (along with Sally Hawkins as one of the school’s teachers) are enough to make this one of the more appealing awards-baity films. It’ll be interesting to see if the Academy (or even audiences) embrace the picture’s more dystopian/sci-fi elements.

Check out the trailer below and let us know your thoughts (via YouTube)!

Never Let Me Go will be distributed by Fox Searchlight in the U.S. and will receive a limited release from October 1st. Hopefully an Australian release will follow soon after.

Discuss: I’m ashamed to admit that I have not read Ishiguro’s book. Those of you who have: let us know what you think about the above trailer?
