The poster for David Fincher‘s upcoming film The Social Network, based on the controversial beginnings of Facebook, has debuted online. Click to embiggen.
The film is based upon Ben Mezrich’s book The Accidental Billionaires: The Founding of Facebook, a Tale of Sex, Money, Genius and Betrayal. It follows Mark Zuckerberg (Jesse Eisenberg), the young savant who developed the world-changing social network at Harvard in the early aughts. Justin Timberlake and Andrew Garfield star as the young men who helped Zuckerberg on his quest, only to be left stranded in its wake. Aaron Sorkin (The West Wing) wrote the screenplay.
There were early doubts as to how much of Fincher’s visual style would be brought to this seemingly intimate and simple tale of betrayal and online dating. I think the poster hints towards a stylish and perhaps even darker take on this seemingly frothy tale.
Having read Mezrich’s book, I can assure that the story is funny, strange and engaging enough for a feature film. Hopefully a trailer will emerge soon and we can take a better look at Fincher’s latest.
The Social Network opens November 25th, 2010 in Australia.
Discuss: Is Jesse Eisenberg breaking out of his Michael Cera-lite persona?
I read the book and I think that with Aaron Sorkin and David Fincher the movie has potential to be much better than the book. It was really an interesting story but I think the writing style of the book was pretty sloppy. I am definitely looking forward to seeing it.
I DON'T LIKE THIS NEW GUY BECAUSE I LIKE MICHAEL CERA!!!!!11oneone.Ahem. I mean, he's almost exactly like Michael in terms of his persona and the way he conducts himself. If you close your eyes, he even sounds exactly like him! But he doesn't seem to fit that type, yeah he looks nerdy and awkward, but not the same nerdy and awkward that Michael is. Also, he's not as cute as Michael is.. even thought Michael's not cute in the attractive sense, this Jessie guy is just not attractive OR cute. It's very hard to explain.Rant over.
