Arrested Development creator working on film script (he’s half done!)

Arrested Development creator Mitch Hurwitz has revealed that he is indeed working on the script for a film adaptation of his beloved television show.

Hurwitz told The Live Feed that the script is half done, which means that it already has 50% more script than that other TV-to-film adaptation, Sex and the City 2.

“The reason I’ve been so cagey is fans have been so [eager about it]. I really want to do it. Jason Bateman gave an interesting quote recently saying ‘when we get it, we’ll read it and decide if we want to do it [Hurwitz gives ‘What? Really?’ look]…It’s not going to be a big money maker…It’s going to be fun, like a family reunion. The only stumbling block could be scheduling. Everybody wants to play together.”

Stars Jason Bateman, Michael Cera and Will Arnett have all seen their careers rise following the cancellation of the show in 2006. Although every cast member has expressed a desire to reunite for a movie (Cera most recently at Comic Con), scheduling will certainly be a tricky pickle.

Hurwitz was not willing to hand over the film’s title or logline, as it would “give too much away”. The project is set up at Fox Searchlight. Ron Howard will produce, while Hurwitz will direct.

Of course, as with any Arrested Development movie news, please keep your expectations in check. Here are the dates for my previous articles on the highly anticipated project.

October 8, 2009.
November 13, 2008.
And finally, February 6, 2008 (my first day of employment at Quickflix).

Discuss: Why do they toy with us so?
