As promised, the animated Scott Pilgrim short produced by Adult Swim has debuted online in its entirety.
The four-minute clip is a flashback/fantasy sequence of Scott’s that has been excised from Edgar Wright‘s film. It takes place at the beginning of the second volume of Bryan Lee O’Malley’s six-part comic series. Michael Cera and Alison Pill voice Scott Pilgrim and Kim Pine respectively in the cartoon, reprising their characters from the film. Mae Whitman and Jason Schwartzman provide the vocal chords for Lisa (a minor character cut from the live-action film) and the evil Simon Lee (the antagonist of this short segment).

Scott Pilgrim vs The World may have died a slow death at the box office over the weekend (it took home US$10.5 million in the States, against a budget of US$60 million+), but that doesn’t keep it from being one of the best films of the year. Let’s just be thankful such a wonderful big-budget picture squeezed its way out of the studio system (and we have little nuggets like the Adult Swim video to compliment it).
