Fassbender reteams with Hunger director for Shame

Michael Fassbender is set to work once again with Hunger director Steve McQueen on the upcoming drama Shame.

According to Variety,

“Fassbender will play Brandon, a 30-something man living in New York who is unable to manage his sex life. The drama, penned by McQueen and “Brick Lane” scribe Abi Morgan, will examine the nature of need, how people live their lives and react to the experiences that shape them.”

British artist McQueen made his directorial debut in 2008 with Hunger, the true story of the IRA’s Bobby Sands, who undertook a hunger strike whilst in prison. The film is devastating, anchored by Fassbender’s committed performance as Sands. It went on to win the Caméra d’Or award for first-time filmmakers at Cannes.

Shame begins shooting in January.

Discuss: Can McQueen and Fassbender make lightning strike twice?
