The title of Transformers 3 inspired by Pink Floyd?

This is what we call a slow news day. The title of the new Transformers film will be the Pink Floyd-flavoured Transformers: The Dark of the Moon.

So, Michael Bay must be a fan of prog rock (but not a big enough fan to know the full title of the genre’s highest selling LP). This makes sense, especially considering the way in which Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was overlong, mostly incomprehensible, and dripping in self importance – like most prog rock.

The title for the third Transformers flick was discovered by TFW2005 and confirmed by Collider.

Transformers: The Dark of the Moon (in 3D!) is directed by Michael Bay (who didn’t like Transformers 2), and stars Shia LaBeouf (who hated Transformers 2). It will not feature Megan Fox or the racist robot twins. It arrives in Australian cinemas July 1, 2011.
