Eastwood denies Phoenix’s casting in Hoover

Well, so much for a comeback. Clint Eastwood has denied reports that Joaquin Phoenix will star alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in an upcoming J. Edger Hoover biopic.

It emerged in September that performance artist extraordinaire Phoenix was set to star as Hoover’s lover in the Dustin Lance Black-penned film.

Eastwood has since told Reuters that he has no knowledge of Phoenix’s involvement in the film – and considering that he’s the director, he would know!

“No. I don’t know where that came from…didn’t he become a rapper?”, Eastwood said, presumably moments before ushering local youths of his front yard with a rake.

The Oscar winning director did confirm that DiCaprio is in the process of signing on to star as Hoover himself.
