R.I.P. Tom Bosley

Beloved Happy Days star Tom Bosley has passed away at the age of 83 after a short battle with lung cancer.

Although best known as Richie Cunningham’s exasperated but understanding father Howard on the hit TV show Happy Days, Bosley enjoyed a rich career that spanned more than sixty years.

The Californian-born Bosley made a name for himself playing New York mayor Fiorello La Gaurdia in the Pulitzer Prize winning play Fiorello!, a role for which he received a Tony Award.

Bosley appeared in numerous television shows over the years, most notably as the lead character in Father Dowling Mysteries and as Sheriff Amos Tupper on Murder, She Wrote.

He continued working well into the noughties, appearing on Family Guy, One Tree Hill and That 70s Show. His last film appearance was in the comedy The Back-Up Plan.

Tom Bosley is survived by his wife Patricia Carr, daughter Amy Baer and stepdaughters Kimberly diBonaventura and Jamie Van Meter.
