The iconic music video for Michael Jackson‘s Thriller is to be adapted into a 3-D feature film.
According to Deadline, director Kenny Ortega (This Is It) and screenwriter Jeremy Garelick (The Break-Up) are pitching the project to numerous studios in Hollywood (including GK Films, Lionsgate, Summit and Fox 2000).
The film will be budgeted at a relatively modest $50 million (although that doesn’t include the sure-to-be expensive song rights).
Little is known about the plot, although we can safely assume it will focus on zombies to some degree. Deadline suggest that it will also involve the home town of Vincent Price (who provided the song with its famous narration).
Discuss: What do you think? Is this a case of Hollywood raiding the late M.J.’s estate for a money-spinner, or will it be a fitting tribute to one of history’s greatest entertainers (and his signature music video)?
