The trailer for Ivan Reitman‘s new romantic comedy No Strings Attached has debuted online. It marks the first film in five years from the director of the beloved pictures Ghostbusters, Meatballs and Stripes.
No Strings Attached stars Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman as old friends who decide to strike up a purely sexual relationship, and in the process discover that there is no such thing (isn’t that always the way?).
O.K., so the premise is fairly generic, and the last thing we really need is to see another Ashton Kutcher-romcom. Also, Reitman behind the camera isn’t exactly an indication of a quality product these days (his last two features were the lamentable My Super Ex-Girlfriend and the giant Head-and-Shoulders commercial Evolution).
However, the trailer for No Strings Attached is worth a watch, if only for a glimpse at the talented supporting cast that has been assembled. They include Greta Gerwig and Jake M. Johnson (who should really be the leads), Ludacris and Mindy Kaling. The film also stars Kevin Kline, Cary Elwes and Olivia Thirlby (Juno).

No Strings Attached arrives in U.S. cinemas January 21, 2011, with an Australian release to follow.
Discuss: Can you think of any romantic comedies that were saved by its supporting cast? Going the Distance is a recent example…
>Sometimes we must watch a film that makes us giggle and fall in love over again. And this movie is such a funny and inspiring story. The thing is I think Ashton Kutcher should do more comedy. And the rest of the cast is really good 🙂
