Trailer Debut: Jane Eyre

The first trailer for Cary Fukunaga‘s adaptation of Charlotte Brontë’s classic novel Jane Eyre (the sixteenth in movie history!) has debuted online. It’s a sumptuous gothic treat for those who like their literary dramas intense.

Australia’s own Mia Wasikowska stars as Jane Eyre, the classic literary character who endures a harsh upbringing, becomes a governess and then falls in love with her employer Edward Rochester (Michael Fassbender).

Check out the trailer below (or enjoy it in HD over at Yahoo):

The film also stars Jamie Bell, Judi Dench, Sally Hawkins and Imogen Poots. It arrives in Australian cinemas April 7, 2011.

Discuss: I’m ashamed to say I’m unfamiliar with Brontë’s 19th century novel. So, fans of the book, how does the trailer look?
