Natalie Portman used to be the ‘girl next door’ until her role in 2004’s Closer saw her straddling the stripper pole. More recently in Darren Aronofsky’s new film Black Swan (set to hit our shores January 2011) Portman and co-star Mila Kunis share a lesbian tryst. Now according to the LA Times Portman has co-written a raunchy comedy with friend Laura Moses. The two are in the process of shopping the script around and we have to admit it sounds intriguing.
The film is called BYO, which stands for Bring Your Own, and centres on two unlucky in love, twenty-something women who decide to throw a BYO party; bring your own eligible bachelor. It’s been described as a female Superbad but sounds like it could be the love child of Dinner for Schmucks and a host of other Judd Apatow-esque comedies.
So who will play the two female leads? Portman is said to fill one role, while also producing the film, and the rumour is that Anne Hathaway has expressed interest to play opposite Portman. While the film could go either way, the promise of two solid leading actresses, and a script penned by Portman, gives us hope this could be the fresh, sassy and sexy comedy that women have been waiting for.
Discuss: Which female actress would be a perfect foil for Portman?
