Mark Wahlberg has finally admitted that The Happening is a bad movie, in a surprising moment of honesty and clarity (clarity that would have come in handy when reading the script for – and eventually agreeing to star in – The Happening).
Collider has the transcript of Wahlberg speaking at a press conference for his upcoming awards-contender The Fighter. The Oscar-nominee discussed a lunch date with co-star Amy Adams, and spilled his true feelings on M. Night Shyamalan‘s much-mocked environmental horror film.
“We had actually had the luxury of having lunch before to talk about another movie and it was a bad movie that I did. She dodged the bullet. And then I was still able to … I don’t want to tell you what movie … alright, The Happening. F**k it. It is what it is. F*****g trees, man. The plants. F**k it. You can’t blame me for not wanting to try to play a science teacher. At least I wasn’t playing a cop or a crook.”
Perhaps the only thing more hilarious than Wahlberg’s admission are the following terrible scenes from The Happening.
Here is Mark Wahlberg trying to reason with a tree.
Here is Mark Wahlberg watching a man feed himself to a lion.
Here is Mark Wahlber trying to convince a crazy woman that he’s not trying to kill her.
And here is a remix of the above scene.
Discuss: F*****g trees, man.
>Yep, this movie is truly one of the worst I've ever seen. Shyamalan doesn't have a bad rep for no reason. At least he's honest.
