Mark Wahlberg – continuing his ongoing tour of bristling honesty – has revealed to MTV he will star in David O. Russell‘s upcoming adaptation of the video game Uncharted.
Wahlberg told Josh Horowitz that he was definitely involved in the project, presumably as treasure hunter Nathan Drake.
He also confirmed the heretofore too-good-to-be-true rumour that Russell wants to cast Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci.
“That’s who he wants to write the parts for. I talked to Pesci about it and I know David’s people have talked to [Robert De Niro]…I’m obviously in whatever David wants to do but the idea of it is so off the charts: De Niro being my father, Pesci being my uncle. It’s not going to be the watered-down version, that’s for sure.”
Uncharted will be Wahlberg and Russell’s fourth collaboration, following Three Kings, I Heart Huckabees and the upcoming awards contender The Fighter.
Discuss: Forgive my ignorance, but I’ve never actually played Uncharted. Is Wahlberg a good fit?
>Russell should really leave this sort of crap to Uwe Boll.
>NOOOO!! It was starting to look good!
>Movie RUINED!
>They should make a movie out of Little Big Planet. No, Pac-Man Championship Edition DX. Heck, they're both quite popular games, so it would make sense that it will sell units, no? Make it 3D and it will. A movie about the MacDonalds franchise. People eat there all the time. Colgate? Cotton Buds? I heard toilet paper is "massive".
