It was only ever a matter of time before Will Ferrell starred in a political comedy. And apparently that time has come. But I certainly didn’t suspect Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover, Due Date) would be starring alongside him in an election satire. A pitch for a new comedy to be directed by Jay Roach (Meet the Parents) and starring Ferrell and Galifianakis as political rivals is circling Hollywood, Deadline reports.
It may not have a title or production house yet, but according to the rumours, this is one project pitch where “everybody’s interested”.
The film is set for a 2012 release, so as to correlate with the next US presidential election, which is apparently between two not very funny, slightly overweight white guys…?
More news as it unfolds.
Discuss: Can Hollywood casting predict the future? Are Barack, Hilary and Sarah all out of the running for the next election?
