>The teaser trailer for Terrence Malick‘s long-gestating, highly-mysterious film-about-everything The Tree of Life has debuted online. You would think our anticipation would be too immense for it to be even somewhat satisfying. But it is!
The film stars Brad Pitt as the imposing father of a young boy in the 1960s (who grows up to be Sean Penn, or at least played by him).
For a long time we knew little about the film, except that it was supposedly about a lot (including dinosaurs!). Then came a rather epic plot synopsis, which frankly, raised more questions then delivered answers.
The teaser artfully hints at the intimate story at its core, as well as the extreme, universe-shattering elements that go with it. Malick’s signature visual style is undeniable – dreamy, wistful, and on a huge scale.

The Tree of Life also stars Jessica Chastain, and debuts in Australia May 2011.
Discuss: Epic, right?
>Yeah, and I’m guessing, like most of Malick’s sprawling epics, once you remove all the protracted shots of foliage swaying in the breeze, you’ll be left with an underwhelming 90 minute film. He’s even managed to get flora into the title of this one.
